Take risks. Live life, don’t let life live you. These all sound so noble, but when you are so ‘anointed’ in the ability of goofiness, goofy things happen just by living life. Two events of just ‘going for life’ landed me literally on my head.
One was when we lived at the top of a hill in Concord North Carolina. The kids were at the bottom of the hill playing with friends and it was time for them to come home. I’d seen them squat on their Razor Scooter and literally fly down the hill. I thought that would be fun. So as I started out of the drive way, I don’t know what happened. I hit a rock or something, flipped over the handles of the Razor and landed face up in the middle of the street. 🙂 Great show for the neighbors!
Another happened just two years ago. We were at a family 4th of July gathering in Arkansas. Everyone was either napping, riding on the boat or playing cards. I decided to go for a walk. As I exited the garage I noticed a new kind of scooter. It had two scooters making a V where you put your feet. I don’t know what it is called. I thought, “That looks fun. I can do that. ” So I took it to the top of the hill and started down. It was really fast. I squeezed the hand brakes which flipped the V to the other side. I was going down the hill backwards!!!! Again, I don’t know what happened but I flipped off, landed straight on my head this time; so hard that both my earrings popped out. As I rolled over onto my hands and knees my head was ringing and things were encircled with a black haze, but I was determined to find my earrings and I did!! I kinda stumbled into the house My nurse cousin diagnose a probable concussion, gave me a bag of ice and some pain killers! Needless to say, a helmet is always a good choice for me, even in the simplest of endeavors! SMILE.
